Embrace Autumn Colors – Zion’s Best Fall Hikes

Late October and early November are a magical time in Zion Canyon. Daytime highs are mild while evenings feel crisp (the average November high is about 56 °F with lows near 31 °F), so you can hike in comfort without summer crowds.  Pack layers, a light jacket and perhaps a beanie or gloves for chilly mornings and evenings.  Here are a few favorite fall hikes:

Canyon Overlook & Timber Creek Overlook – short trails with sweeping vistas; perfect for sunset views.

The Narrows – wading through the Virgin River’s slot canyon is iconic.  In autumn the flash‑flood threat is lower and water levels are more manageable.  Rent dry pants or a dry‑suit package in Springdale to stay warm.

West Rim Trail – the “long view” of Zion; hike the top section from the Lava Point area for an all‑day adventure .

Fall foliage in Zion peaks mid‑ to late‑November.  Cottonwoods along the Virgin River blaze gold, while maples and oaks add reds and orange.  Bring a camera and catch sunrise when the canyon walls glow.  When your legs need a break, hop on the free Springdale and Zion shuttle (runs every 5–15 minutes during the busy season ) or rent an e‑bike from Zion Cycles to explore at your own pace .

After a full day on the trails, unwind in your casita.  Each suite is a single‑floor, 1 000‑sq‑ft oasis with a fully stocked kitchen, comfortable bedding, high‑speed Wi‑Fi and a 60‑inch 4 K smart TV.  Don a cozy Brooklinen robe, steep a tea in your Keurig and relax on your private patio as the evening light fades.  A community fire pit with complimentary s’mores offers a chance to mingle with other guests.
